Sometimes, it’s the ability to THINK BIG – not just for yourself, but for others, is what separates a good leader from an extraordinary one. Great leaders do not pause at envisioning success for their own careers; they actively dream of bigger and brighter futures for their team members, paving the way for them to grow and also succeed.
Seeing other people’s potential even when they can’t see it yet themselves is a good anchor for thinking big for others. When leaders believe in someone’s ability to take on new challenges or rise to higher levels, it’s often the needed push to move out of the comfort zone and pursue greater goals.
But it doesn’t end with just encouragement. Leaders must also create growth opportunities. Advocating for team members, recommending them for projects, and connecting them with the needed resources or to other mentors who can guide their journey are just some concrete actions that can be explored. These send a powerful message: “I see greatness in you, and I’m here to help you achieve it.”
Instead of viewing success as a limited resource, influential leaders have an appreciation that empowering others doesn’t diminish their accomplishments. Being selfless and having an abundance mindset further affirms the truth that the more investment is given to a team’s growth, the stronger and more capable the entire organization becomes. When people know their leader genuinely wants to see them thrive, it fosters trust, loyalty, and a deeper commitment to shared goals. It creates a culture where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute to the best of their capability.
This week, identify one person on your team and think about how you can help them aim higher. Do you have a ready stretch project for their taking? How about a skill they can benefit from developing? Share your vision for their potential and offer your support in making it happen. A leader who dreams big for their team while staying grounded in peace inspires an environment of trust, growth, and boundless possibilities so please do not set aside your inner peace in the process.
